How It Works

The Wheel

A keys (inner ring) are minor. B keys (outer ring) are major. Same number = relative keys — they share the same 7 notes and always blend perfectly.

Energy Flow

Move +1 clockwise for an energy boost. Move −1 counter-clockwise to release tension. These shifts work because the keys share 6 of 7 notes.

The Rule

Any two keys with the same number, or ±1 apart, are safe to mix. For more complex moves, use the Mix Advisor to see the exact relationship and a production tip.

Real Examples

Lo-Fi10A

Beat in D minor (10A)

Lock 10A → Mix Advisor shows F major (10B) for a warm chord loop, and C minor (9A) for a mellow sub drop.
